When we talk about obesity two things prominently come to our mind i.e. diet and calories. Obesity related to diet in a big way. Whatever we consume during day is called as diet. If you want to lose weight changing quantity and type of food you eat goes a long way in reducing weight. Ideal diet will be one, which takes care of your choice and calories.

Weight loss diet primarily should provide 1000 to 1500 calories per day. This is not the final figure and it greatly depends on the activity level of the weight and activity level of the person.

So now, we know that obesity related to diet. Plan your diet in such a way that you lose 1-2 pounds per week. At least 100 gm of carbohydrates/day is necessary to prevent fatigue and fluid imbalance. 10-30 gms of fiber are also necessary per day for your body. You should also limit your calorie intake from fat by 30%. Also, remember to take adequate quantity of water. 8-10 glasses. Keep the above things in mind before you are going to plan your diet.

Childhood obesity and fast food advertising are somewhat interrelated. Fast food advertising provokes children to vigorously ask their parents for it. Parents somehow are not able to stop their child and hence it not only is a problem with children but parents also come into this trap slowly. Even overweight children and TV viewing is related, as the children who watch TV for longer hours are lethargic and tends to become obese fast.

When children become obese, serious measures should be taken and it should never be ignored. Weight management program should be initiated for children. The other steps are as follows:

# Change in eating habits
# Planning and food selection
# Calories intake management
# Increased physical activity
# Do not eat meals while watching TV
# Limit snacks intake for your child.
